TV personality and healthcare activist, Montel Williams brought his national bus tour to Baltimore to talk about prescription drug help for low-income and uninsured patients. The bus tour stopped in Baltimore at Lexington Market—at the height of The Market’s business day in order to deliver the information to as many people as possible. 
(There are a half million Marylanders who are underinsured).  The logistics and planning of this special event were spearheaded by Delegate Shawn Z. Tarrant.  The dissemination of this type of information can help families make better health-related decisions and improve the quality of life. The national tour is sponsored by pharmaceutical companies.  The tour stop included staff who could help patients apply for programs that provide prescription drugs at reduced prices.  One of the highlights of Mr. Williams’ message was that there is  programs established to provide assistance is called Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPARx).
Delegate Shawn Z. Tarrant, a member of the Health and Government Operations Committee in the Maryland General Assembly, was the host for this event; and he was instrumental in ensuring that Mr. Williams’ bus tour came to Baltimore.   Detailed information on the Partnership for Prescription Assistance can be obtained at www.pparx.com or by calling 1-888-4PPA-NOW (1-888-477-2669).
